Social Care Team Manager

About the role
Sandwell Council’s Adult Social Care Division is looking for an experienced Social Care Team Manager to lead its Hospital and Intermediate Care Team from the Oldbury office. The role operates within a hybrid working model and requires strong leadership to drive high‑quality, person‑centred services for residents of Sandwell.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage, develop and motivate a team of social workers and practitioners to meet performance targets.
- Implement operational strategies and development plans across the service area.
- Provide operational leadership and oversee project management of key developments.
- Manage change initiatives and communication strategies with partners, carers, service users and other stakeholders.
- Ensure effective consultation and collaboration with external partners.
- Undertake any other duties required to achieve service objectives.
Required profile
- Social Work qualification (DipSW, degree or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
- Extensive post‑qualification practice in adult social care.
- Proven experience managing large, complex budgets.
- Senior leadership and supervisory experience.
- Experience of partnership working, performance improvement and change management.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and financial management principles.
