Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention (Full‑time)

About the role

Torbay Children’s Services are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Assessment & Intervention Service. This full‑time position focuses on safeguarding children and supporting families through comprehensive assessments and targeted interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out detailed child protection assessments and risk analyses.
• Develop and implement intervention plans in partnership with families.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency teams, including health, education and police.
• Maintain a robust caseload while participating in a duty rota for service continuity.
• Produce accurate case records and reports in line with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with proven experience in assessment and child protection.
• Strong understanding of child welfare policies and regulations.
• Excellent communication, empathy and professional judgement.
• Ability to work flexibly and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• High‑quality case recording and report writing.
• Proficient use of IT systems for case management.
