Social Worker – Children in Care

About the role

Milton Keynes City Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Children in Care team. This role offers the chance to support vulnerable children and young people in a stable, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Chair multi‑agency and multidisciplinary meetings
• Complete statutory assessments and annual reviews
• Develop and implement child‑centred care plans
• Manage a caseload of up to 18 children, including those under care and placement orders
• Work collaboratively with professionals such as IROs, health services, and education teams
• Ensure children’s needs are met through direct work, life‑story work, and ongoing placement support

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in Children in Care and adoption work
• Strong assessment, care planning and case‑management abilities
• Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
