Social Worker – Family Help (Hereford)

About the role

Our client, Herefordshire Council, is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the Family Help North locality team in Hereford. The role focuses on delivering protective and supportive interventions for children, young people and their families, helping them achieve sustainable, positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a complex caseload as the Family Help Lead Practitioner.
• Assess family needs, identify risks and develop tailored Family Help Plans.
• Chair and contribute to Child in Need, core group and strategy meetings.
• Undertake risk assessments, safeguarding investigations and court‑related report writing.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate multi‑agency support.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce high‑quality written reports.

Required profile

• Full registration with the appropriate professional body for social work.
• Experience working with children, young people and families in a local authority setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and looked‑after children legislation.
• Ability to build restorative relationships with families and professionals.
• Excellent written communication and report‑writing skills.
