Social Worker – Support and Protect Team

About the role
Join a dedicated Support and Protect Team within Children’s Social Care in Workington. You will work on a diverse caseload of children subject to protection and need plans, delivering high‑quality assessments and safeguarding outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of children under Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans and related proceedings.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments in line with the Children Act 1989 and current safeguarding guidance.
- Prepare and present reports for court, case conferences and statutory reviews.
- Develop, implement and regularly review outcome‑focused care and protection plans.
- Collaborate with families, carers and multi‑agency professionals to reduce risk and promote safeguarding.
Required profile
- Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Planning Regulations and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
- Understanding of Public Law Outline (PLO) and court processes.
