Software Developer (Java/C++) – UKIC DV Cleared

About the role

Oscar Technology is seeking a UKIC DV‑cleared Software Developer to join a leading engineering team working on high‑performance backend solutions for secure government and defence environments. You will design, develop and maintain scalable Java and C++ applications on Linux platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and distributed applications.
• Contribute to technical architecture, design decisions and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to improve development processes.
• Support continuous integration, delivery and security (DevSecOps) pipelines.

Required profile

• Commercial experience developing with Java and/or C++.
• Strong background working in Linux environments.
• Experience building backend applications, APIs and distributed systems.
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns and object‑oriented programming.
• Proficiency in multithreading, debugging and performance optimisation.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, DevSecOps and Git workflows.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Active UK DV clearance is mandatory.
