Software Engineer – Java & Python

About the role

Aspect Capital is seeking a Software Engineer to join its London‑based development team. You will work on a variety of systems that support the firm’s systematic hedge‑fund strategies, using Java, Python and MATLAB to turn business requirements into production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new features across Java, Python and MATLAB applications that integrate with proprietary trading platforms and third‑party SaaS providers.
• Apply best‑practice software development lifecycle techniques such as test‑driven development, continuous integration/deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with traders and business analysts to understand financial market requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and represent the team at conferences, meet‑ups and internal tech forums.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional software engineering experience, taking projects from concept through to production.
• Strong communication skills, able to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn financial market concepts; training will be provided.
