Software Engineer, Modelling & Simulation

About the role

As a Software Engineer focused on Modelling and Simulation at Auterion, you will create and maintain the tools that enable virtual testing of autonomous systems. You will work with PX4/APX4, mission software, sensor models and Monte‑Carlo analysis to reduce field‑test risk and accelerate development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain simulation environments for autonomous vehicles using Auterion technologies.
• Support SIL, HIL and model‑in‑the‑loop workflows across PX4/APX4, Skynode and onboard applications.
• Build scalable tools for mission assessment, parameter sweeps and automated testing.
• Create repeatable workflows for simulation execution, telemetry capture, log processing and visualisation.
• Compare simulation outputs with real‑world data to improve model fidelity.
• Support verification and validation activities with reproducible analysis methods.
• Collaborate with GNC, systems, software and field engineering teams.
• Integrate simulation tools into CI/CD pipelines and maintain code quality and documentation.

Required profile

• Strong programming experience in Python and C++.
• Experience building simulation environments, data pipelines or test automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with UAV systems, flight dynamics, sensors and navigation.
• Ability to deliver practical engineering tools quickly while ensuring repeatability.
• UK citizenship and eligibility for UK security clearance.
