Software Engineer – Public Service Digital Team

About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Infected Blood Compensation Authority’s Digital & Data Directorate. You will help build a user‑centred, compassionate public‑service platform that delivers compensation payments to those affected by the infected blood scandal.
Key responsibilities
- Refine user stories into actionable development tasks.
- Collaborate with interface designers and architects to turn technical designs into functional front‑end applications and back‑end API services.
- Ensure all user interfaces meet accessibility standards and perform across target devices.
- Work with DevOps colleagues to create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for frequent, reliable releases.
- Design and build scalable applications that meet performance requirements.
- Identify and propose continuous‑improvement solutions to deliver the right product efficiently.
Required profile
- Motivated to make a real impact in a public‑service environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Commitment to the mission of supporting the infected‑blood community.
Required skills
- Front‑end development (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks).
- Back‑end API development.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of accessibility standards.
