Software Engineer – Python/Django (Hybrid, Birmingham)

About the role

We are seeking a mid‑level Software Engineer with strong Python and Django experience to join our delivery team in Birmingham. The role supports a digital platform that enables workflow automation, forecasting, analytics dashboards and data portals, helping our clients achieve the UK’s Net‑Zero target by 2050.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test and maintain secure, high‑quality Python/Django code following engineering standards.
• Participate in feature‑level design discussions and propose scalable solutions.
• Conduct peer code reviews, apply best‑practice patterns and improve code maintainability.
• Deliver tasks from design through development, testing and deployment, providing accurate estimates and early risk visibility.
• Troubleshoot issues across development, integration and production environments.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, Principal Engineers and Architects.
• Mentor junior team members, pair‑program with seniors and actively seek feedback.

Required profile

• Mid‑level engineer comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to translate stakeholder needs into technical solutions.
• Commitment to code quality, testing and continuous improvement.
• Effective communicator who can clearly articulate design decisions and trade‑offs.
