Software Quality Engineer

About the role

The Software Quality Engineer will act as the lead QA representative for Lockheed Martin UK Rotary and Mission Systems. Based in Havant (or Gloucester) you will support regulatory and third‑party certification activities across a range of aerospace and defence programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide software QA oversight for multiple programmes, including C6Cyber, Merlin Mk2 helicopter missions and Integrated Warfare Systems.
• Inspect and accept software modifications and upgrades for training logistic systems.
• Plan, arrange and support external audits (customer, regulatory, certification).
• Engage with external industry, government and military QA staff.
• Monitor supply‑chain quality, conduct subcontractor site audits and inspections.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and drive process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualification in software design, engineering or computer science (NVQ Level 4/ONC or higher).
• Lead auditor certification – AS9100 preferred or ISO/ISO 27001.
• Experience in software development and software quality assurance.
• Understanding of software QA methodologies, tools and processes.
