Software Test Engineer – Hybrid (Stevenage)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our growing team in Stevenage. The role is hybrid, with 3‑4 days on‑site each week, and offers the chance to work on advanced simulation and experimentation systems for aerospace and defence projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, cases and procedures.
• Verify software functionality against system requirements and customer expectations.
• Support integration, proving and validation activities across the product lifecycle.
• Investigate defects, analyse logs and test data to identify root causes.
• Produce clear test reports and validation evidence for internal and customer review.
• Collaborate with development teams in Agile sprints and contribute to demonstrations and trials.

Required profile

• Experience in software, integration or system testing within an engineering environment.
• Proven ability to work in Agile development cycles and use defect‑tracking tools.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance (British citizen or dual UK national).

Required skills

• Python scripting for test automation.
• Jira for defect and task management.
• GitLab and general source‑control/CI‑CD workflows.
• Understanding of software architecture and system integration principles.
