Software Test Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Software Test Engineer to join our Birkenhead team. This position is ideal for a recently qualified graduate or an early‑career professional who wants to develop testing expertise in a commercial embedded software environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute manual and automated test procedures for development and production.
• Design, implement and automate test cases, suites and legacy tests.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system and performance testing.
• Identify, document and track defects using Jira, reproduce issues and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Prepare test reports, monitor coverage and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with software engineers and product managers, participate in code reviews and development meetings.
• Support CI/CD pipeline integration with automated tests.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, test plans, test cases and logs.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a keen interest in embedded software testing.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate findings clearly.
• Willingness to stay up‑to‑date with testing tools and methodologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++ and Python programming.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with batch and shell scripting.
• Use of bug‑tracking tools such as Jira.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and test automation frameworks.
