Software Test Team Lead

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Software Test Team Lead to drive high‑quality digital product delivery for a leading UK housing care provider. The role combines technical testing expertise with people leadership, supporting a small team of testers in an agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and line‑management for a small team of testers, including 1:1s and performance reviews.
• Lead planning and execution of functional, regression and exploratory testing within agile squads, ensuring risk‑based test approaches.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Delivery Managers during backlog refinement, sprint planning and other agile ceremonies to align testing with sprint goals.
• Oversee defect reporting, ensure clear communication of issues and drive timely resolution.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement of test processes, documentation and reusable assets.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a software tester or senior tester in agile delivery teams.
• Experience coordinating testing across multiple workstreams.
• Previous line‑management or mentoring of testers is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of QA principles and risk‑based testing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
