Software Testing Engineer – Long Term Contract

About the role

We are looking for a Software Testing Engineer to join a long‑term contract assignment in Stevenage. The role focuses on end‑to‑end testing of large, complex software programs within an agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, designs and specifications based on formal requirements and customer needs.
• Execute progressive software testing throughout development cycles, including functional, integration and qualification testing.
• Lead investigations of defects and unexpected behaviours, analysing logs and data to demonstrate compliance.
• Support external integration trials, demonstrations and final certification activities with engineering partners and customers.
• Provide regular status updates and detailed test reports to project leads and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in end‑to‑end software testing at scale on large, complex programs.
• Hands‑on Python coding experience.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as HP ALM, IBM ALM/ETM, IBM DOORS and JIRA.
• Understanding of Scrum/Agile methodologies and ability to work in an agile team.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent software testing qualification.
• Desirable experience in the defence industry and with simulation/emulator environments.
