Solicitor Advocate / Barrister (Band 2) – Liverpool

About the role

Keoghs LLP is seeking a Band 2 Solicitor Advocate or Barrister to join its Liverpool office. You will provide advocacy, advisory and drafting services while receiving training from senior team members. The role involves occasional travel to Manchester, Bolton and court locations as required.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake advocacy, drafting and advisory work across a range of matters, including complex fraud defences, interlocutory hearings, small claims and fast‑track trials.
• Settle pleadings, manage CCMCs, sanctions and private prosecutions, and pursue recoveries.
• Assist senior colleagues in delivering the above services and develop technical expertise in Keoghs’ core practice areas.
• Deliver advocacy and litigation training updates for fee earners.
• Mentor and supervise Band 1 Advocates, contributing to the development of the in‑house advocacy team.
• Obtain higher rights of audience where not already held.

Required profile

• Full practising certificate (Barrister) or Higher Rights of Audience (Solicitor) or demonstrable related experience.
• 3‑10+ years post‑qualification experience, preferably in insurance fraud, general PI, EL/PL, costs, large loss or professional negligence.
• Proven trial experience and ability to produce high‑quality paperwork with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to complete external course for Higher Rights of Audience if not already qualified.
