SolidWorks CAD Designer – Fabrication & Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a SolidWorks CAD Designer to join a specialist engineering and fabrication company in Harwich. The role involves creating detailed CAD models and documentation for fabricated steelwork, sheet‑metal products and acoustic enclosures, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture.

Key responsibilities

• Create 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Produce bills of materials, fabrication packs and production documentation.
• Design sheet‑metal components and fabricated steel structures.
• Collaborate with workshop and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Maintain drawing revisions and technical documentation.
• Provide occasional support for installation drawings and site queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience using SolidWorks for 3D modelling and 2D drawing production.
• Understanding of fabrication, sheet‑metal or manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Effective communication with workshop and production personnel.
• Open to recent engineering graduates or junior designers with relevant SolidWorks experience.
