Solution Architect – Data & AI Platform

About the role

Join Elsevier’s TIO Architecture Team to lead the design and evolution of the Operational Data Platform, shaping secure, governed, high‑performing data solutions that enable AI‑driven business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of Snowflake‑based data warehouse solutions and related systems.
• Develop next‑generation platform capabilities such as real‑time ingestion, AI‑driven insights and API‑led integration.
• Design data structures and interfaces that enable natural‑language querying and GenAI use cases.
• Establish secure, standardized best practices across data warehousing, integration and AI tooling.
• Define inter‑system data flows, architectural roadmaps and governance standards.

Required profile

• Strong organisational, project planning and time‑management skills, able to manage multiple priorities across diverse teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities, including risk assessment and coordinated resource mobilisation.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder‑management skills, translating complex technical concepts for engineers and senior executives.

Required skills

• Snowflake data warehouse design, DBT, SqlDBM, data modelling and schema design.
• AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis) and familiarity with Azure.
• Real‑time ingestion, streaming, API design, graph databases and AI‑enabled solutions (MCP).
• Tableau, GitHub, Jira, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery methodologies.
