Solution Architect

About the role

We are supporting a leading Financial Services organisation on a multi‑year evolution of its core platforms and technology landscape. As the Solution Architect you will own the architectural direction, governance and processes for modernising applications and driving cloud adoption. The role is based in Leeds with a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and run the Architecture Function, defining practices, governance and processes, including participation in the Technical Design Authority.
• Provide technical leadership and decision‑making on APIs, authentication, integration patterns and application design while collaborating with engineers and senior stakeholders.
• Lead the evolution of a core Microsoft‑based, on‑prem platform toward scalable, modern architectural patterns.
• Shape an API‑led ecosystem, evaluating the introduction of an API Gateway and improving service‑to‑service communication.
• Support early‑stage cloud adoption, defining a pragmatic, low‑risk migration path to Azure that respects regulatory and operational constraints.
• Partner with an Infrastructure SME to ensure clear separation and alignment between infrastructure and application architecture.
• Introduce structure, best practices and architectural governance across the technology landscape to ensure consistency, scalability and security.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with hands‑on development experience, preferably within the Microsoft stack.
• Proven solution or enterprise architecture experience, able to operate both tactically and strategically.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft‑centric technologies and the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams.
