Sourcing Manager – Public Transport Procurement

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager to lead procurement initiatives for a public‑sector transport organisation. The role is hybrid, based in Reading or Milton Keynes, with three days a week in the Reading office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end sourcing for multi‑million‑pound opportunities across complex spend categories.
• Develop and execute Integrated Category Strategies to achieve commercial and contractual value.
• Manage the full procurement cycle from business requirement through to contract signature.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure seamless transition to Strategic Supplier Management.
• Support the Commercial & Procurement Director in meeting savings targets.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering savings in high‑value sourcing projects.
• Strong negotiation, dispute‑resolution and contract‑law knowledge.
• Experience working in agile, cross‑functional teams within a complex, devolved organisation.
• Business or Economics degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• Executive‑level influencing skills and a completer‑finisher mindset.
