Sous Chef

About the role

We are seeking a warm and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Edenbridge Manor Care Home. In this full-time position you will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals that support the wellbeing of our residents.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen and supervising culinary staff.
• Prepare modified diets that are visually appealing, nutritionally balanced and comply with IDDSI guidelines.
• Ensure all food preparation meets the highest hygiene standards and follows safe-food-handling procedures.
• Support the team in understanding and applying the Avery Food Safety Management System.
• Maintain budgetary control while delivering a comprehensive culinary service.

Required profile

• Relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2, NVQ or equivalent).
• Minimum one year of catering experience, preferably in a care-home or similar setting.
• Demonstrated compassion and commitment to high-quality resident care.
• Flexibility to cover a range of duties at short notice.

Required skills

• Food safety knowledge and practice.
• Familiarity with IDDSI guidance for texture-modified diets.
• Understanding of safe food handling and hygiene standards.
