Sous Chef (Live‑In) – Lake District

About the role

Join the kitchen team at The Wateredge Inn in Ambleside as a Live‑In Sous Chef. You will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver high‑quality dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while supporting the overall guest experience in a stunning lakeside setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and maintain consistent food quality.
• Develop and cost menu items, ensuring profitability and alignment with brand standards.
• Manage stock control, place orders with approved suppliers, and oversee kitchen cleanliness.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team, stepping in as acting Head Chef when required.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house and management to ensure seamless service.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a fast‑paced restaurant or hotel kitchen, preferably at a supervisory level.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork across kitchen and front‑of‑house.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
