Sous Chef – Part‑time (Newcastle Upon Tyne)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Sous Chef to join our award‑winning pub team at Pitcher & Piano in Newcastle upon Tyne. As the second‑in‑command in the kitchen you will support the Head Chef, ensure high‑quality dishes are produced and maintain the flow of service.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of kitchen operations.
• Run the line during service and cover for the Head Chef when they are off‑shift.
• Oversee, organise and develop the kitchen team, encouraging skill growth.
• Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation and safety.
• Ensure health and safety and food hygiene compliance at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a branded kitchen environment or as an experienced Commis Chef.
• Ability to work flexible part‑time hours and adapt to a busy service schedule.
• Passion for delivering high standards of food and service.
• Strong teamwork and leadership attitude.

• Running a kitchen line during service.
• Team supervision and development.
• Food preparation and presentation.
