Sous Chef – Premium Café in Canary Wharf

About the role

Join Houston & Hawkes as a Sous Chef in a high‑profile café located in the heart of Canary Wharf. You will lead the daily kitchen operations, creating fresh, seasonal dishes for a discerning corporate clientele while working closely with an on‑site manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day food preparation in a busy café environment.
• Prepare salads, sandwiches, soups and daily specials with a focus on quality and presentation.
• Manage stock control, ordering and food production to meet demand.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, allergen and hygiene regulations.
• Monitor waste, optimise kitchen efficiency and maintain a clean, organised workspace.
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergens and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of the kitchen and deliver exceptional food.
• Organised, reliable, self‑motivated with a hands‑on approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
