Space Systems Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion Procurement Placement

About the role

We are looking for a motivated intern to join Airbus Defence and Space’s Mechanical, Thermal and Propulsion Procurement team in Stevenage. You will work directly with the Head of Mechanical, Thermal and Propulsion Procurement, supporting the definition of procurement strategies for key space programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Support multi‑functional team harmonisation across propulsion, structures, detail parts, thermal hardware and mechanisms.
• Manage risk registers and follow‑up actions with team leaders.
• Track savings reporting from idea generation through to completion.
• Assist in sourcing activities, tender preparation and contract negotiations to secure optimal purchasing conditions.
• Monitor contracts throughout their life‑cycle, ensuring supplier performance on logistics, quality, cost and support.
• Provide day‑to‑day supplier relationship management and support project optimisation to minimise total cost of ownership.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Management or a related field.
• Strong negotiation, persuasion and influencing abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship and team building.

What we offer

• Salary of £24,500 per annum.
