Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) – Full‑time

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead its SEND provision. Working Monday to Friday, 8:00 am‑4:00 pm, you will ensure that pupils with additional needs receive the support required to thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the school's SEND provision and strategic direction.
• Identify, assess and monitor students with special educational needs.
• Support teachers in delivering effective interventions and inclusive classroom practices.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Contribute to whole‑school improvement and student wellbeing initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
• Previous experience in a SENCO or SEND leadership role.
• Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
