About the role
The school is seeking an ambitious and dynamic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to start in September 2026. You will lead the strategic development of the academy’s SEND provision, working within a supportive secondary school that has a good OFSTED rating.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of support for students with SEND, collaborating with external agencies, specialist teachers, educational psychologists and SALT.
- Lead the development and delivery of alternative provision, EAL programmes and exam access arrangements.
- Drive continuous professional development (CPD) for a team of around 30 support staff.
- Monitor student progress, implement targeted interventions and quality‑assure the SEND team’s work.
- Contribute to raising achievement for vulnerable learners and ensure compliance with current SEND legislation.
Required profile
- Strong leadership and team‑building abilities.
- Outstanding classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching and learning.
- Commitment to improving outcomes for SEND and vulnerable students.
- Clear understanding of student support across a range of SEND needs.
- Thorough knowledge of current SEND legislation and standards.
