Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) – SEND School

About the role

The school is seeking an experienced SENCO to lead its SEND provision. You will be part of a dedicated leadership team, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive high‑quality, personalised education and support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic SEND plan across the school.
• Oversee EHCP implementation, annual reviews and all statutory processes.
• Monitor pupil progress and ensure personalised learning programmes are effective.
• Support teachers and support staff in delivering outstanding SEND practice.
• Collaborate with families, therapists and external agencies.
• Lead staff training and promote inclusive teaching.
• Contribute to whole‑school improvement and strategic planning.
• Maintain compliance with SEND legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it).
• Significant experience in a SEND setting.
• Strong knowledge of EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach with a passion for improving outcomes for children with SEND.
