Special Needs Learning Support Assistant – Chichester

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports pupils with special educational needs in a supportive SEN school in Chichester. It is ideal for recent graduates in psychology, criminology or sociology who want hands‑on experience with children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group learning support for pupils with SEN.
• Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement strategies.
• Support personalised learning plans and behaviour interventions.
• Observe, record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Build trusting relationships and maintain a safe, structured environment.
• Deliver personal care when required.

Required profile

• Degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology or a related field.
• Strong interest in mental health, child development and behaviour.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, reflective mindset and ability to commute to Chichester.
