Special Needs Learning Support Assistant

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports pupils with special educational needs in a dedicated SEN school in Dorking. You will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to help children develop academically, behaviourally and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group learning support for pupils with SEN.
• Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement strategies.
• Support personalised learning and behaviour plans.
• Observe, record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Build trusting relationships and maintain a safe, structured environment.
• Deliver personal care when required.

Required profile

• A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in mental health, child development and behaviour.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, reflective mindset.
• Experience with children or vulnerable groups (desirable).
• Ability to commute to Dorking.
