Special Needs Teaching Assistant

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with an inclusive school in CR0 to hire a Special Needs Teaching Assistant starting September 2026. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support that helps pupils with special educational needs thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers and the SENCO in delivering personalised learning activities.
• Support pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH, during classroom and break times.
• Help manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and report observations to senior staff.
• Contribute to the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• Patient, caring and proactive attitude.
• Strong communication and behaviour management abilities.
• Commitment to helping pupils overcome learning barriers.
• Experience with ASD, ADHD or SEMH is advantageous but not essential.
