Special School Support Assistant – All-Through SEN School

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Support Assistants for an all‑through SEN school in Bournemouth, providing education from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5. The role involves supporting pupils with autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication differences and complex learning profiles in a highly resourced, multi‑sensory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with autism, sensory processing needs, communication differences, or complex learning profiles.
• Support pupils experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation or sensory overload across KS1‑KS5.
• Encourage engagement through practical, creative, therapeutic and differentiated activities.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, safety and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
• Support communication, emotional regulation, social understanding and independence.
• Build trusting, stable relationships using calm, clear and consistent communication.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver holistic, person‑centred support.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education or health & social care, or relevant SEN experience supporting young people with complex needs.
