Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Infectious Sciences

About the role

Join the Infectious Sciences laboratory at Southwest Pathology Services (SPS) in Taunton and rotate through Bacteriology, Parasitology, Virology, Molecular diagnostics and Mycology. You will perform routine and specialist biomedical investigations autonomously while maintaining high professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate across all areas of the Infectious Sciences laboratory as required.
• Perform and interpret routine and specialist biomedical investigations.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and ISO15189 standards.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call service, weekend and bank‑holiday rotas.
• Work independently and propose procedural improvements for your work area.

Required profile

• HCPC registration.
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio.
• Highly motivated, organised and able to work in a rotating schedule.
• Willingness to take part in on‑call and weekend duties.
