Specialist Doctor – Plastic Surgery (Full‑time)

About the role

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a full‑time Specialist Doctor to join the Plastic Surgery team at North Tyneside General Hospital. The role supports a high‑throughput department delivering skin cancer management, breast reconstruction, hand and limb surgery, and complex abdominal and perineal wound reconstruction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage skin cancer clinics, pre‑operative assessments and post‑operative care under consultant supervision.
• Participate in the skin cancer MDT and contribute to treatment planning.
• Assist and perform microvascular reconstruction, flap monitoring and complex tissue reconstruction.
• Support hand surgery, limb reconstruction and perineal/abdominal wall reconstruction services.
• Contribute to departmental teaching, audits, research projects and CPD activities.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with experience in plastic surgery, preferably at specialist grade.
• Enthusiastic, reliable and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to support service expansion, including MOHS, sentinel lymph node biopsy and lymphedema services.
