Specialist Foster Carer for Young People (Healthcare Assistant)

About the role

This full‑time, home‑based position offers a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker to become a specialist foster carer. You will provide a stable, nurturing environment for young people aged 11‑18 who are transitioning from residential care or high‑support settings into family life.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome a young person into your home and deliver day‑to‑day care, emotional support and guidance.
• Work closely with social workers, health professionals and fostering agencies to develop and follow individual care plans.
• Ensure the young person’s safety, wellbeing and educational progress.
• Maintain accurate records and attend regular supervision and training sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 21 years.
• British citizen or holder of Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) – no temporary visa status.
• Spare, dedicated bedroom and ability to provide a full‑time, stable home.
• Professional or personal experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults.

Required skills

• Knowledge of child safeguarding and safeguarding procedures.
• First aid and basic health‑care skills, including medication administration.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and manage challenging behaviours.
