Specialist Pharmacist – Women & Children (Band 8a)

About the role

The Specialist Pharmacist will join the Women and Children Pharmacy Team at Princess Royal University Hospital, providing expert clinical pharmacy services for women’s and paediatric health. Reporting to the Principal Pharmacist, you will help shape a high‑quality, patient‑focused pharmacy service across the Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist, Women’s and Children’s, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services for women’s and paediatric patients.
• Act as an independent prescriber to optimise medication therapy for child health.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to tailor pharmacy support to the Care Group’s needs.
• Provide discharge liaison, medication reconciliation and clinical input across relevant wards.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with experience in women’s health and paediatrics.
• Qualified independent prescriber (or eligible to become one).
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to delivering cost‑effective, patient‑centred pharmaceutical care.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy expertise in women’s and child health.
• Independent prescribing competence.
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary pharmacy team.
