About the role

The NHS Borders Community Nursing Team is seeking a Specialist Practitioner District Nurse to lead a district nursing service in the Berwickshire locality. This permanent Band 6 position involves delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care to patients in their own homes while supporting the professional development of the nursing team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and line management for a district nursing team.
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to a defined caseload of patients, promoting independence.
• Prioritise workload effectively and manage time to meet patient needs.
• Participate in a weekend rota to ensure continuous service coverage.
• Contribute to the development of flexible, patient‑focused care pathways.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with community nursing experience.
• Specialist qualification in Community Nursing and a District Nursing qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development for self and team.
