Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – September Start

About the role

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Meldreth (near Royston) from September 2026. The role is term‑time only, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm, and offers a clear pathway from temporary to permanent employment.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Work alongside experienced teachers to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Promote confidence, communication and independence in each learner.
• Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment and support behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Monitor pupil progress, celebrate achievements and provide feedback to staff.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in education, care or youth‑work settings.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
• Understanding of SEN, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
• Legal right to work in the UK.
