Specialist SEND Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Specialist SEND Tutor to deliver one‑to‑one educational support for young people with complex special educational needs in the Wirral area. The role starts in September 2026 and offers flexible hours between 9 am and 3 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalised one‑to‑one learning sessions for students who are currently out of mainstream education.
• Design and implement creative, tailored activities that meet each learner’s abilities and goals.
• Work closely with local councils, SEND teams and families to monitor progress and adapt support plans.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and safeguarding information.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with complex SEND or disengaged pupils.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional child‑related references.

• Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
• Ability to create flexible, creative learning activities.
• Patience, empathy and a problem‑solving mindset.
