Specialist, Service Provider – Plant Operator Trainer

About the role

The Specialist, Service Provider will act as a Plant Operator Trainer, delivering formal training to Regular and Reservist soldiers on the operation and maintenance of in‑service ‘C’ Vehicles and Engineer Construction Plant at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME). The role ensures trainees achieve required competencies while maintaining a safe training environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and practical training on plant equipment and vehicle operation.
• Prepare and maintain course dossiers, lesson plans, tests and assessment materials.
• Mark assignments, provide constructive feedback and record trainee progress.
• Manage the serviceability, maintenance and fault reporting of training equipment.
• Order, receive and return equipment from Babcock or other service providers.
• Submit regular reports on trainees, courses and equipment status.
• Stand in for the Lead Trainer when required and operate plant equipment during demonstrations.
• Adhere to health, safety, environmental and data protection policies.

Required profile

• Hold or be working towards an NPORS qualification on all taught equipment.
• Hold or be working towards an NPORS Tester qualification.
• Professional Teaching Certificate.
• CAT C, CAT G and CAT H driving licences.
• Completion of the Defence Trainer Capability Course at Shrivenham.
