About the role
We are seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Paediatric Team at the Vale Centre for Health and Care in West Dunbartonshire. This fixed‑term, full‑time position offers the chance to work with children, young people and families, delivering specialist interventions that improve communication and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with complex speech, language and communication needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, provide diagnoses and deliver evidence‑based therapy interventions.
- Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes, including for neurodevelopmental presentations.
- Collaborate with families, education staff and multidisciplinary colleagues to plan and achieve care outcomes.
- Provide training, coaching and support to colleagues, support staff and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and data in line with professional standards.
- Participate in service development, audit, research and pre‑referral activities.
Required profile
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and current HCPC registration.
- Significant experience working with paediatric caseloads, including complex communication needs.
- Knowledge of neurodevelopmental differences and a range of speech, language and communication disorders.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of multidisciplinary, multi‑agency teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to reflective practice.
- Full UK driving licence, access to a car and membership of the PVG Scheme.
