Specialist Support Worker – Mental Health Service

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Specialist Support Worker to join our Mental Health Service in Southwark. The role focuses on building supportive relationships and helping customers recover from substance misuse and complex mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop trusting, supportive relationships with customers and foster a positive environment.
• Conduct holistic assessments that incorporate statutory referral information.
• Deliver innovative, engaging key work sessions to achieve Support Plan goals.
• Collaborate with external providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to case reviews.

Required profile

• Enjoys social interaction and encourages customer involvement in local activities.
• Warm, friendly presence with an open demeanor.
• Team‑oriented, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.

Required skills

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area (e.g., substance misuse, health and social care).
• Experience building professional partnerships with external services.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
