Specialist Teacher – SEND (Autism & Mental Health)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher to join Oversands School, an independent specialist day school in Grange‑over‑Sands. You will work with children and young people on the Autistic Spectrum and those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them develop academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEND pupils.
• Collaborate with in‑house psychologists, teaching assistants and therapy professionals to support pupil progress.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil development, behaviour and achievement.
• Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive and well‑resourced learning environment.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and provide input on pupil support plans.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a primary school setting, preferably with SEND pupils.
• Resilience, dedication and a passion for celebrating “huge small victories” in pupil learning.
• Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Experience delivering curriculum to pupils with autism, social‑emotional or mental‑health challenges.
• Knowledge of strategies to raise self‑esteem and develop life‑skills.
