Specialty Doctor – Male Low Secure Unit (Full‑time)

About the role

Join Cygnet Hospital Churchill as a Specialty Doctor on the new 16‑bed Male Low Secure Unit (LSU). You will provide psychiatric assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for men, helping them transition back to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial clerking, mental state examinations and routine medical/psychiatric support for newly admitted patients.
• Assess, investigate, diagnose and treat in‑patients under Consultant supervision.
• Maintain clear communication with nursing staff, mental health professionals and external agencies.
• Participate in weekly ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, CPA, tribunal and Section 117 hearings.
• Document all assessments, interventions and discharge summaries in line with company policy.
• Complete mandatory training such as BLS, ILS, Breakaway/PMVA, moving and transferring, infection control and health & safety.

Required profile

• Qualified Specialty Doctor in psychiatry with experience in low secure settings.
• Full‑time availability to work on the new service opening in October 2026.
• Ability to work under Consultant supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Intermediate Life Support (ILS).
• Breakaway/PMVA training.
• Moving and transferring techniques.
• Infection control procedures.
• Health & safety compliance.
