Specialty Doctor – Palliative Medicine (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands is seeking a compassionate Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join a multidisciplinary team supporting a 12‑bed inpatient unit and community services. This 12‑month fixed‑term position starts in July 2026 and offers the opportunity to deliver high‑quality end‑of‑life care while contributing to education and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist palliative care to in‑patients and community patients.
• Participate in on‑call duties, covering 6–7 programmed activities per week.
• Collaborate with nurses, allied health professionals, and other doctors to deliver patient‑centred care.
• Contribute to teaching, training, and the development of palliative care services.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Minimum four years of postgraduate training, including relevant acute specialties.
• Experience within the NHS and strong communication skills with patients and families.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient‑centred care; palliative medicine experience is desirable.
