Specification Technologist – Food Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Specification Technologist to join our fast‑paced technical team in Durham. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and delivering accurate product specifications that meet customer, regulatory and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and collate data needed to develop new product specifications.
• Create and update detailed specifications in line with customer, regulatory and quality standards.
• Upload and manage specification data across multiple customer systems and portals.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve technical queries and support risk assessments.
• Ensure all product information complies with legal, safety and GMP requirements before approval.
• Maintain site documentation, complete customer forms such as SAQs and allergen risk assessments.
• Review and approve packaging artwork and support product launches with technical documentation.
• Prepare certification documents for allergen, ethical or product‑specific schemes.

Required profile

• Background in food science, technical or quality discipline within food manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and numerical ability.
• Organised, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GMP principles and food safety regulations.
• Experience with product specification development (training provided if needed).
