Specifications Technologist

About the role

Join a century‑old, forward‑thinking food manufacturer as a Specifications Technologist. You will ensure finished‑product specifications are accurate, compliant and of the highest quality, supporting new product development and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed finished‑product specifications and artwork.
• Guarantee compliance with food safety, legal, quality and authenticity standards.
• Coordinate technical information across internal teams and manufacturing partners.
• Support new product development by providing precise specifications at key project stages.
• Manage change‑control processes and communicate updates effectively.
• Respond to customer enquiries with thorough technical information.
• Assist certification processes and product accreditations.
• Monitor updates in customer policies and legislation, assessing impact on products and processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of specification systems and processes.
• Maintain accurate records and support wider team activities as needed.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in food science or a related discipline.
• Significant experience creating and maintaining product specifications within the food industry.
• Experience working with major retailer specification systems.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP.
• Working knowledge of UK/EU food labelling legislation.
