Speech and Language Therapist

About the role

Our client, a specialist education provider for children and young people with autism and other complex needs, is seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team in Poole. You will work Monday‑Friday, 8.30 am‑4.30 pm, delivering targeted therapy that helps pupils overcome communication barriers and reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments and design individual and group intervention programmes.
• Manage a varied caseload of pupils, monitoring progress and maintaining accurate clinical records.
• Lead and support Therapy Assistants in delivering bespoke intervention plans.
• Provide advice and training to teaching staff on effective communication strategies.
• Contribute to EHCP outcomes, annual reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, teachers and external professionals to ensure optimal outcomes.

Required profile

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
• Current registration with the HCPC.
• Experience working with children and young people with autism, learning disabilities or other communication difficulties.
• Strong organisational and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Speech & Language Therapy assessment and intervention techniques.
• HCPC registration compliance.
• Positive Behaviour Support approaches (desirable).
