Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (Part‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team on a part‑time basis. You will support children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) by delivering high‑quality, person‑centred interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver therapy programmes designed by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
• Develop the skills and confidence of the Team Around the Child (TAC) to embed communication strategies in everyday environments.
• Maintain accurate, timely records of each child’s progress.
• Provide administrative support to the clinical work of SLTs.
• Visit a variety of educational settings across South Wiltshire during the working week.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE grade 4 (C) in English & Maths or equivalent NVQ.
• At least two years’ experience working with children.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• High level of self‑motivation, enthusiasm and organisational ability.
• Ability to manage emotional challenges associated with the role.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and the capacity to handle sensitive situations.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Good IT proficiency and accurate documentation skills.

What we offer

• Part‑time role – 19 hours per week, term‑time only.
• Salary £25,500 – £27,098 pro‑rata per year.
• Base at High Post Business Park, Salisbury (SP4 6AT) with travel to local schools.
