Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

About the role

This position offers graduates a hands‑on opportunity to support children with speech, language and communication needs in a welcoming school environment in Trowbridge. Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and Speech & Language Therapists, you will help develop confidence and independence in young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1‑to‑1 and small‑group support for pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Assist children with autism, speech delays and social‑communication challenges.
• Support emotional regulation to enable effective communication of needs.
• Adapt classroom activities so all children can access the curriculum.

Required profile

• Compassionate, patient and approachable.
• Passionate about supporting children with SEND.
• Confident communicator and relationship builder.
• Proactive, adaptable and eager to develop new skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.

Required skills

• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Basic understanding of speech, language and communication development.
• Team collaboration and flexibility.

What we offer

• Daily rate of £85‑£110, paid via PAYE.
• Full‑time and part‑time contracts starting September 2026.
